Polly Ortiz Lutz, PhD
Dr. Polly Ortiz Lutz is a seasoned educational leader whose career has spanned 30 years. Previously she was the Special Education Director and Section 504 Compliance Oﬃcer for Jeﬀerson County Public Schools (JEFFCO) in Colorado for two decades. JEFFCO has 85,000 students and more than 9,000 students with Individual Education Programs (IEPs). She worked with senior budget analyst to manage a $90 million budget and supervised the December 1 count which generated federal funding for students with disabilities (SWD).
Polly earned a doctorate from the University of Denver and held administrative, teaching and clinical positions in public schools, universities, hospital/clinics and federal government settings.
Currently, Polly is the Chief Education Oﬃcer for her educational consulting business, BALANCE, Early Dispute Resolution, LLC. Trained as a mediator through the Colorado Bar Association, she is a mediator for the Colorado Department of Education (CDE). Using Restorative Practices (RP), Polly encourages improved relationships, equity and more positive collaboration for the future. She is known as a creative problem solver.

Her trainings are engaging and take the mystery out of IDEA and Section 504. She ignites meaningful conversations between schools and families. Her calm professional style, as a licensed school psychologist, is helpful in facilitating even the most challenging meetings.
