PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2001 to present – Mediator – Colorado Office of Dispute Resolution. As a contract mediator with the Office of Dispute Resolution I have mediated District and County Court cases that include; Domestic Relations, Employment, Landlord/Tenant, Transactional and Small Claim cases. Additionally, I have mediated and served as a Family Group Facilitator in the truancy reduction program in the Denver Public Schools. I have mediated extensively in Jefferson, Denver, Adams and Boulder District Courts.
2018 to present – Mediator – Colorado Department of Education. As a contract mediator with the Colorado Department of Educaton I have mediated special education disputes involving IDEA complaints between parents, students and Colorado School districts throughout the State.
2001 to present – President, Dispute Resolutions Professionals, LLC. DRP is a full-service ADR and conflict resolution firm offering mediation, arbitration and conflict resolution training. Our areas of expertise include Domestic Relations, Landlord/Tenant disputes, Employment and Employer relations and Public Sector conflict. We also provide Court approved co-parenting classes for divorcing and never-married parents in the 1st, 17th and 18th Judicial Districts.
2005 to 2018 – Adjunct Faculty, University of Colorado at Denver, The Center for New Directions in Public Policy. NDPP at the University of Colorado at Denver offers a Masters Degree in Political Science for traditional, non-traditional, and adult learners. My course, Conflict Resolution and Public Consent Building, is specifically focused on the resolution of disputes arising between government agencies and the public.
2001-2003 – Volunteer Mediator, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Denver. As a volunteer mediator for the EEOC, I mediated internal employment disputes in situations where staff mediators had conflicts of interest. These disputes included situations involving administrative law judges, staff attorneys, and administrative staff.
1997- 2001 – Volunteer Mediator, Jefferson County Mediation Services. JCMS provides free mediation services to low income individuals. Cases included, domestic relations, neighbor disputes, small claims, evictions, and code violations.
1997 to 2001 – Attorney. Private practice in the areas of domestic relations and criminal defense.
