Chuck Dyer is an avid promoter of interest based solutions as a means to create greater value and understanding within and between organizations and individuals. He is a trained mediator, dedicated to teaching and providing the tools for effective conflict management to provide better outcomes for leadership teams and individuals. Chuck is a frequent speaker/facilitator among leadership teams and governing boards.
Chuck completed Phoenix Strategies Basic Mediation Course in 2018 and he is currently expanding his areas of experience and qualification as a mediator in the state of Colorado. Chuck is a trained Mediator, Conflict Coach, Large Group Facilitator and Divorce Mediator.
Chuck spent 46 years as an aviator and leader within that profession. Chuck retired as a flight crewmember from FedEx Express in 2018, where he had served as Chairman of the FDX Master Executive Council of the Air Line Pilots Association. Prior to FedEx, Chuck served as a Line Officer and Aviator in the US Navy. After leaving the Navy, Chuck spent a brief stint as a pilot at American Airlines prior to beginning his 34 year career at FedEx.
While at FedEx, Chuck served in a multitude of roles over his lengthy career including serving as FDX Master Executive Council Chairman. Chuck served in first hand interactions pursuing conflict solutions with regulators of the US Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration, as well as working with various departments of FedEx corporate management. He served primarily to manage conflicts within the approximately 5000 union members and those they interacted with. In his various capacities he negotiated and mediated a wide variety of issues, including but not limited to contract bargaining and disputes, regulatory interactions , disciplinary cases, benefit disputes, as well as internal organizational disputes and conflicts.
Chuck’s experience performing a wide variety of roles over the past decades allowed him to understand and develop methods of team building and increased cooperation and mission focus within the various leadership teams. He promoted transparent and inclusive governance operations that the leadership and membership could place their trust in as a counter to destructive interpersonal conflict. He also promoted methods of influence creation and management, in pursuit of a more functional interparty relationship between labor and management to further minimize conflict and increase cooperation.
Chuck attended Indiana State University, graduating in 1975 prior to entering US Navy’s flight program. His initial training as a mediator was provided by the Air Line Pilots Association Professional Standards Committee. He spent more than ten years as a peer mediator for his fellow air line pilots at FedEx Express.
