Michelle is passionate about helping parties and their advocates resolve disputes using fair, compassionate, respectful, and cost-effective processes. Her skill in dispute resolution is informed by her experience as an Arbitrator, Mediator, a former Assistant Attorney General, a District Court Staff Attorney and attorney in private-practice. Inspired and thankful for her diverse legal career, she also taught law school as a full-time law faculty member. During this time, she taught law students and fledgling lawyers the intricacies of contract law, civil procedure, and negotiation.
During her twenty-five-year litigation practice Michelle observed that there were few mediators working in rural Colorado to help people navigate dispute resolution. Concerned about those often deterred by delays and costs of courtroom resolution, she successfully transitioned her practice to full-time mediation and arbitration in Western Colorado.
Today she specializes in civil disputes in the areas of contracts, real estate, and family law. She uses efficient, confidential mediation that is extremely cost effective and that can be quickly scheduled.
To increase her effectiveness Michelle has engaged in intensive training in several problem-solving modalities. After several decades of experience managing diverse caseloads, Michelle knows how to help you, or your clients, reach settlement without unnecessary litigation. Her commitment to professionalism is demonstrated by her service to the community. In addition to supporting with many local non-profits, Michelle is the immediate past chair of the Colorado Bar Association Section of Alternative Dispute resolution.
