A class especially designed for those who would like to become professional mediators or those interested in acquiring the skills to effectively manage conflict at work, with family, friends, etc. You will learn to use the effective techniques and to help you resolve conflict.
Your co-facilitators are Jo-Marie Lisa, a professional, experienced, trainer and mediator and Neila Achter, B.A., M.A. in Non-Profit Management and experienced trainer and mediator.
You will learn the "facilitative" mediation process; overview of the Colorado Dispute Resolution Act; Mediator Standards of Professional Conduct, the caucus technique, how to break impasse; effective communications in a conflict setting and negotiation-facilitation skills. You will have the opportunity to ROLE-PLAY various types of conflicts with real-time feedback from your trainers and/or coaches. You will have the opportunity to solo mediate and to engage in co-mediation.
