I was not able to register for the conference. I applied for a scholarship but there were no funds available for this years conference. Although I will not be able to attend the conference sessions could I still come to meet some of the groups that are looking for volunteer mediators. I would like to meet some of the groups in person.

On the "Volunteer Opportunities" page, the website address for the Fort Collins Community Mediation program should be www.fcgov.COM/mediation/

I just uploaded by continuing education on the site. At the bottom of the form it asks for total number of hours. I would suggest this be changed to Number of General Credits and another entry for Ethics Credits. If you attend a CLE course this is the information on the form given to those who complete it. It would be easier for attorneys as well as those of us who do attend these trainings to upload correct information. Right now we don't specifically require ethics credits separate from general credits but I think we should discuss this. Other states do require mediators to have both each year.
Thanks.

Thank you to everyone who attended for making it a lovely event and a great success. We look forward to more networking and outreach events in the future. I am excited about all the new and renewed initiatives the MAC is supporting and anticipate great things with our programs working together!

Comment on What should a mediator provide to a judge after a court-ordered mediation? by Fonda Hamilton

Good question! This is what I do and what i advise other mediators:

There is a certificate of mediation on the judicial self-help site. if there is no attorney involved in the mediation, complete the form, have the parties sign it then have them take it to the court for filing. The form contains the following information: 1) the parties of the dispute 2) case number 3) the day of the mediation 4) who attended 5) name of the mediator and 6) a place to identify outcome (i.e. settlement, partial settlement or no settlement)

There is no place for a mediator to give additional information on the form and mediators should not give any additional information since what happens in a mediation is considered confidential - so, whether a party mediated in good faith or simply sat there should not be reported.

By reviewing the form, the judge can see who attended, who was a "no show" and what action, if any, is needed from the courts as far as settlements go.

Look for form JD 1119 on the Domestic Forms page of the Judicial Self-Help Center (click here)

In the find a mediator link, it has areas of conflict/specialty, but on the profile page, it does not appear to allow us to list any area of specialty. How does it connect the two? Also, it does not appear that we can list any professional experience information nor links to our websites. Am I missing it somewhere?
